Howie Mandel

Most recently, Mandel headlined his 10th cable special, "HBO Comedy Hour: Howie Mandel on Ice." Upon completion of that same-titled tour he performed in soldout concerts in major venues across the country, including Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Caesar's Palace.

Aside from his touring schedule, Mandel recently concluded his eighth season on the hit animated series "Bobbie's World," currently in syndication six days a week and in 65 countries. As executive producer, Mandel was involved in writing, as well as providing the voice of Bobby, Bobby's dad and other characters. Since becoming the first animated series for the Fox Kids Network in 1990, "Bobby's World" has garnered several Emmy Award nominations.

Mandel first rose to fame as a stand-up comedian, and appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" more then 20 times. His profile was heightened with his role as Dr. Wayne Fiscus on the multi-Emmy Award-winning medical drama "St. Elsewhere," which ran from 1982-88.

Mandel has taken his respected sensibilities with kids to release a series of interactive animated CD-ROM's aimed at educating children while entertaining them. The discs are distributed by 7th Level and include "Tuneland," "Lil' Howie's Great Word Adventure," "Lil' Howie's Great Math Adventure" and "Lil' Howie's Great Reading Adventure." An instant success, the CD-ROM series has won 36 awards and critical acclaim worldwide.

A Toronto native, Mandel owned carpet stores before beginning his comedy career on a dare during a business trip to Los Angeles in 1979, when his friends coaxed him to perform on amateur night at the legendary Comedy Store. A producer in the crowd that night hired him on-the-spot to appear on the comedy game show "Make Me Laugh." That run led to talk show appearance, a stint as Diana Ross' opening act, and eventually led to his role on "St. Elsewhere."
